What is Keratoacanthoma?

a benign epithelial tumour seen in the elderly.

What are the main clinical features of Keratoacanthoma?

  • said to look like a volcano or crater
  • initially a smooth dome-shaped papule
  • rapidly grows to become a crater centrally-filled with keratin

What is the management of Keratoacanthoma?

  • Often spontaneously regress within 3 months
  • But safer to remove as hard to differentiate from SCC
